   Inspired by “Iron Chef” Battle Yogurt shown April 3th,2001

 

   Main Ingredient: Yogurt

   Cooking Style: Chinese vs. French-Italian

   Iron Chef: Chen Kenichi  Challenger: Genichi Itoh

 

   Challenger Itoh:

 

1. Yogurt white cooked salad

 

2. Creamy risotto with a yogurt cheese sauce

 

3. Meat pie with a basil/yogurt sauce

   a minced meat filling with curry in it and some yogurt.

 

Wooden Chef Recipe:

   Meat pies:

   Revived dried out eggroll wrappers in a plate of water.

   Chopped leftover Swiss steak (from pressure cooker).

   Mixed with yogurt.

   Wrapped meat and yogurt mix in eggroll wrappers.

   Fried in olive oil.

 

  Sauce:

  Soaked basil flakes in a small bowl of water.

  Mixed with yogurt in a pan and heated

 

  The finished dish lookd the most like the challenger’s meat pies.

 

4. Yogurt sangria dessert

 

Iron Chef's Dishes:

 

1. Yogurt cocktail

 

2. Yogurt dumpling

 

3. Spicy shark stew with yogurt

    spicy brown dish

 

4. Yogurt gratin

    Put rice in the bottom of a small glass dish.

    Mix eggs, sugar, and yogurt to make custard.   

    Poured the yogurt custard over the rice.

    Cook in steamer, about 10 minutes.

 

Wooden Chef Recipe:

 

    Elaine made white rice, took about 2 cups,

    mixed in a half a cup of sugar and a cup of yogurt,

    poured into small glass dessert bowls,

    covered with a tablespoon of brown sugar,

    cooked in the steamer about 10 minutes.

 

    This dish came out good, but still had a sour yogurt taste.

    It was a good match for Chen’s yogurt custard.

 

5. Red pepper noodles with yogurt sauce

    Mix up a dough with red bell pepper bits and yogurt.

    Roll out flat and cut noodles from it.

    Serve as a cold salad with some other julienne vegetables.

 

Wooden Chef Recipe:

 

    Made angel hair noodles,

    mixed in a package of tomato flavor from ramen noodles,

   

    Looked red like Chen’s and tasted good, but no yogurt.

 

6. Furafura yogurt (a dessert)
