Matsutake Mushrooms
The Matsutake Mushroom Battle between
Challenger Masamitsu Takahashi and
Iron Chef Hiroyuki Sakai was first aired
in the United States on September 6th, 2002
Challenger Masamitsu Takahashi is the owner of Takahashi restaurant in the Asa District of Tokyo.
He specializes in traditional Kyoto style cuisine. When Soviet Premier Boris Yeltsin visited Japan in
1990 he ate at Takahashi and visited there again when he attended the Tokyo Summit in 1993.
Challenger Takahashi Won !
This battle was another Wooden Chef cook along with an assortment of mushrooms thrown in, except
for matsutake which I just happened to have run out of. As usual, most of my dishes look like they were
thrown together in a couple of minutes, which they were. I did, however, actually have time to write
down some of the ingredients.
